Service B is a maintenance milestone. Skipping it does not always trigger immediate problems, but it can mean missed inspection items that catch wear early.
Short answer
Mercedes Service B includes oil and filter change, brake inspection, fluid level checks, cabin filter, and tire/brake condition reporting. Many Service B visits also include brake fluid replacement based on the time interval. The total price changes based on model, engine, total fluid capacity, and which extra mileage-based items are due.
What is included in Service B
Synthetic oil and filter change using Mercedes-Benz-approved oil specification.
Cabin/dust filter replacement.
Brake component inspection and brake fluid service when due.
Fluid level corrections (coolant, washer, power steering, transmission where serviceable).
Tire condition and pressure check, and reset of the ASSYST maintenance computer.
What changes the price
Engine and model: a four-cylinder C-Class has a different oil capacity and parts price than a six-cylinder S-Class or AMG.
Brake fluid service: this is a Service B item by time interval, so when it is due, the price is higher than a Service B without it.
Other due items: spark plugs, transmission service, differential service, and air filters land on certain mileage intervals and may be added.
Diesel models, AMG models, and SUV models may carry higher parts and labor costs than base sedans.
Independent shop vs dealer
AAB Service can perform Mercedes Service B using approved-spec oils, filters, and brake fluid while typically charging less than the dealer.
Service work is documented with detailed notes and the ASSYST indicator is reset after completion.
